Assoc. Prof. Tzvetelina Tzvetanova Totomirova graduated from Medical University, Sofia in November 2002 with the "Golden Hippocrates" award for outstanding results. Since then, she has been working as a doctor at the Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, Military Medical Academy, Sofia. She obtained the specialist degree in "Internal Diseases" in 2008, and in 2012 in "Endocrinology and metabolic diseases". Since 2011, she has served in the ranks of the Bulgarian Army, rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Since 2023, Assoc Prof Totomirova is serving as Head of Clinic of Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases at the Military Medical Academy, Sofia.
In 2015, Assoc. Prof. Totomirova received her PhD after defending her dissertation on the topic "Comparative analysis of methods for evaluating metabolic control in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus". Since 2019, she is an Associate Professor. Assoc Prof Totomirova is author and co-author of more than 140 publications in scientific journals and has contributed to national and international congresses with more than 75 presentations and posters. Author of a monograph on "Methods for assessing glycemic control in diabetes".
Her professional interests are in the field of pre-diabetic conditions, education of patients with diabetes and methodologies for assessment of glycemic control in diabetes.
